Farm Improvements

A Very Busy Memorial Weekend {pics}

Howdy Ya’ll! How was your Memorial Weekend? Did you cookout with friends and family?

I spent my long weekend doing some much needed chores around the farm. It’s hard to believe it hasn’t even been a month since I signed papers on it. It sure feels like it’s been years. I definitely think this was the place we were meant to purchase because it took us no time get used to living there.

So now that we’re all settled we’ve had time to sit down and make a project list for all the things we want to do. Here are some of the projects we came up with and have started on:

  • Extend the current pastures by fencing in around the house.
  • Take down some of the current fencing to have 2 big pastures instead of so many small ones.
  • Seed and Fertilize new pastures
  • Spray weeds in the pasture the horses are going in
  • Add fencing for dog lot
  • Gut and Redo inside of the barn – add 4 stalls, wash stall, tack room, and hay storage
  • Build an arena (105×155)

Whew! Let me tell you, it’s been a lot of work. We knew we would be spending most of our free time fixing up the farm but I don’t think we realized it would take as much time as it is.

Here are some pictures I’ve managed to snap of all the work that’s been done/in progress.

and for the best part of my weekend….

Baby Deer in the wild

I found this little baby laying in the tall grass waiting for his/her mommy to come back for her. I wanted to sooo bad to pick it up and keep it but didn’t. I figured it was better off with it’s mom then with me. I just hope it be dinner for the coyotes that are around the farm. :/

Questions for You:

So how did you spend your long weekend?
Do you have any projects your working on at your farm?
Have you ever seen a baby deer that close in the wild?

[…] Talk about being busy..whew..I’ve had way too much going on these past few weeks. Every day I tell myself to write an update about what I’m doing but then I get to tired and it just doesn’t happen. Luckily, I have done fairly decent at taking pictures of all the projects we’ve been working on. […]
